Sports Nutrition

There are a number of sports nutrition supplements currently available on the market. Sports nutrition health supplements are generally intended to aid an athlete in some manner, usually by increasing their performance or stamina. A common form of sports nutrition is the energy bar, which is a bar usually composed of carbohydrates and sometimes additional protein sources intended to give those who consume it an energy boost. There are also energy drinks intended to boost energy, although energy bars are usually more effective for athletes as they provide a more prolonged energy boost than the off the shelf energy drinks that are widely available. However there are also sports nutrition drinks available which are designed to rehydrate athletes and provide essential nutrients.

Another common type of sports nutrition are the powdered supplements which frequently claim to promote muscle growth and are often used by athletes, especially bodybuilders. These types of sports nutrition supplement are normally sold as a powdered preparation in fairly large quantities and are mixed with water, or milk for consumption. They are often used to significantly boost protein intake and are usually consumed immediately after exercise, some people will even replace their regular meals with these types of sports nutrition supplements. Sports nutrition supplements containing very high concentrations of Creatine are also frequently used, however many people question the safety of this type of sports nutrition, particularly as it is often reported to cause muscle cramps.
